While it seemed to be the usual day at the United Nations attending meetings, there was disheartening news of a possible impending war between Palestine and Israel.
Many countries were bracing themselves to support both sides in finding a common ground so their were no further casualties on either side. The irony of it all; this was a celebratory day at the United Nations for Palestine. The most beautiful thing occurred; the celebration continued in the General Assembly despite the fears of war, where Palestinian musicians shared their pain on stage through music and story.
One could feel the sadness, yet they found a peaceful resolve to share with the world, while also releasing their grief for lives lost through music and story. And it felt as though the music was for the healing of both countries. The music was overwhelming beautiful and melodic tones gave the experience of profound peace by the time the performances were over.
Music transcends war. It brings peace and laughter to us that uplifts the spirit and reminds us to be grateful for what we have and where we live.
